    SLEP participants may include many Illinois law enforcement professionals. Membership in SLEP is based on several items, such as your position, type of appointment, and/or action taken by your employer. The following positions may be eligible to participate in the SLEP Plan:

    Depends on which system hes talkimg about.

    Regular IMRF is way different then those numbers.

    and SLEP is ... Tier 1 -- Retire at 50 - 30 years @ 50 y/o = 80% (2.5% FRE)

    and Tier 2 - Retire @ 55 - 30 years - 75%.

    Just as an addition to what has been said here...

    Sheriffs (and a few PDs authorized to an in it) have their own system within IMRF.

    It's IMRF - SLEP. It's actually one of the better ones in the state still, and one of the better funded systems. It has 2 tries as well, but...
