The above is spot on. I have worked for organizations that adhere to Item 1. The PD I was at for 10 plus years had a "clique". That clique involved fishing and golfing off-duty with the Chief, Lieutenant and Sergeant. If you were in that group, you moved up.

I am and have done some stuff at home, but without being there and seeing it, I would be very reluctant to suggest anything other than surfing over to the electricians forum. Lansing, Michigan is the only state capital that is not also its county seat (not counting the two state capitals that are independent cities and not located in any county). Detroit is the state's largest city.

I tried searching, but I don't think Google would find this. Very much a trivia question, but is the city that the state capitols are located always the county seat of their respective counties? And, yes, I do realize Louisiana has parishes, instead of counties and Alaska has boroughs....

I have retired from traditional police work, but my wife is 10 years younger than me and I am thinking of going back to work full time. A city near me has an opening for code enforcement. I am just wondering if anybody here has done that and what there experiences were, good or bad?

I wouldn't even give any further thought. There are only about 19 states that only issue one license plate. He probably was unaware of that. Don't worry about it....
