Have you guys watching whats been going on in LA for the past week? They're talking about defunding them(LAPD) even more. Think about that, theyre already spread thin as is. Garcetti and the LA City Council panders heavily to certain groups that really could care less about you as a cop....

What do you mean if they're having a big push on hiring? If theyre advertising then they are hiring. That department went through a rough patch a few years ago when the city went bankrupt. Lot of their officers bailed to greener pastures in the IE. Place is busy always jumping off.

Agencies in the Valley for Out of State Lateral

I am looking to leave California within a year or so. I have 14 years on with my current agency. But still have a lot more to go to be living in California. I know pay and pensions are not the same as in CA, however, that is a hit I am willing to take. My biggest motivation to move to AZ is to be closer...

What misfit16 said. We want to see how you write. Dont overthink it. Write your life in chronological order, dont go off subject. Include traumatic experiences if any, challenges youve overcame and the three low points and three high points.

Guys and gals, its cool to get some intel on here about the process but don't be asking questions about the questions they're going to ask in a certain interview. For example, I worked pre-employment backgrounds for a few years, I can post the exact questions theyre going to ask you in the structured...

I want to say its one year from the day you get sworn in, but don't quote me on that. Just don't do anything stupid after the academy and you'll be ok. You would be surprised how many new deputies get into dumbness after, DUIs, off duty shenanigans, DV, etc., that end up costing them their careers.

You go back to custody and you can just stay there or go back out to try it again. It use to be where you were mandated to go to patrol and complete the FTO process to be considered a permanent employee (not that you weren't before, but it was a condition the Department had in place before the dual...

No, they assign you your keys to your shiny new Ford Explorer Interceptor and let you figure it out! J/K!!! Of course they assign you a FTO, our FTO process is a grueling 6 months long, with the last month being your shadow phase, which we call being in your King car. Depending on what station you go...

Probation is a year, period. You are not on probation when you go out to patrol, unless you are still on your first year when you go out, which is happening more often now than when I came on.

It would not impact you getting hired on. But, you want to let your BI know that you purchased a vehicle as it is a change in your PHS and credit report. However, I do not know your financial situation but I would hold off in making any major purchases, unless you have to of course until you've cleared...
