  • I think it's going to be a major hurdle. That the charges were dropped is pretty much irrelevant. Most domestic violence charges are dropped, and it's not a sign of innocence. I would not be convinced unless the victim was later convicted of false report....

    Some officers (often younger ones) still haven't figured out they're not death proof. I was recently headed to a verbal disturbance. Nothing more. No ACTUAL CRIME.     Austin PD has it's own academy. I believe that Austin is not taking applications right now, and I don't know for sure when they'll start taking applications again. You would probably have to call their recruiting unit. There is a regional academy, and I guess maybe some of the smaller surrounding departments...

    Don't worry about other people's speed. Drive what you feel is safe. But as someone else asked, how are these "debates" coming about? You certainly don't need to be criticizing the other officers on their speeds unless you are their supervisor or FTO....
