I have no complaints so far. Don't know if he'll keep the job or not. Have to wait for a new City Manager to make that call....

You probably have.. what, another 10 years to go? Maybe more? One of the best things about this job for me is the ability to move around and try different things. I have a friend who is 5 years from retirement, and he just moved to Park patrol. You should see the guy! He's so freakin' happy. It's like...

The Union actually put out a survey last year with the results saying that morale was generally low. The 'chief' complaints.. (no pun intended) were excessive discipline and well... the Chief. That Chief left late last year for Houston PD. Also there appears to be some implementation of education-based...

About 5.5 yrs. I still like this job. I honestly couldn't see myself doing anything else. 2 guys on my shift came over from other depts with 5 and 6 yrs. I "trained" both of them on FTO. It was basically just showing them around and teaching them policies and paperwork. They already knew how...

It's always changing, but I believe there is some PT, defensive tactics, role play, and other academy BS, i.e. getting in formation, getting yelled at, basic drill commands, etc. Most people who have a little bit of time on the job in another department probably don't really need any of that. BUT, we...

  • A cop I used to work with allegedly(and probably did) put several bullets in his pregnant girlfriend's head. He will eventually be tried for Capital Murder. Cops do effed up stuff sometimes. Or sometimes they just do stuff that you disagree with or don't like. I once saw a cop use a public restroom...

If I let someone go who I believed to be over .08, I'm confident I would lose my job. I have spoken to officers who transferred from other agencies (both in the northeast), and they said it was standard to drive an officer home when pulled over and suspected to be intoxicated.

    Bottom line...

A guy on my shift was a combat medic. He stresses: tourniquet, compression bandage, chest seal(any sheet of plastic and tape), and combat gauze for wound packing. Some shears are useful too.

Arm or leg gets a tourniquet. Bottom of ribs to collar bone gets a chest seal. Armpits or groin...

I dug this show. Netflix is hitting some home runs in my opinion. I have officially ditched cable. I have Netflix and Playstation Vue. I'm saving $100 a month, and I don't miss cable one bit....

  • If it's advertised, then no problem. GT Distributors, for example, has posted "LE Price" on all of their guns. But otherwise.. F no!
I once went to Police Week in DC with my old shift after we had a LODD. We were sitting at a restaurant (not in uniform), and when the check comes one...
