I think my G43 is smaller than the 27? But I forgot they make a very small .380 as well. Didn't consider the shoulder holster either, thanks!

True, I just didn't know if anybody else had some solution I hadn't thought of yet. Pocket might work, thanks. I am really curious if anyone has tried those Urban Carry holsters....

  • I have no insight as far as CPD recruitment, but that sort of attitude will take you far in law enforcement and certainly wouldn't hurt in the hiring process. My GUESS is that with an agency that big you'd end up in the same pool as everyone else but those efforts might be noticed down the line.

    Gun with suit

    Greetings all,

Wife and I will be visiting NYC soon and I will be carrying my G43. I know its really important to deep conceal in a place like NYC. I have an IWB holster but I will be wearing a suit most of the time, sometimes sans jacket. Anybody have a good idea of the best way to carry?...

  • Maybe not at first glance, but if you factor in cost of living and taxes in New Jersey, I think a lot of cops in states with seemingly lower salaries end up with more money over the course of the year. With regard to the South in general (GA, NC, VA, SC, etc), it does not seem to have good pay for LE...

  • No. Processes vary widely, although I think that the majority of states outside of the east coast other than California don't use civil service boards, especially in "at will" states. The process tends to be Initial Application>Initial Interview/Screening>Background Investigation>Truth...

They must be smoking some REALLY powerful stuff down there! I like the idea of replacing all the cops with felons and drug users/dealers. I wish some city somewhere would try it for real. The publish a report on how it went two years later.

  • He was 19, right? The average lifespan right now is about 80 years old, so if you do the math they are essentially saying that they thought their son's earnings would have been about $24,000/year...not really a great compliment. They also assume in the lawsuit that all the money he made would have gone...

As with all Fed LE positions, you serve at the needs of the agency and it is my understanding that you can be transferred at will. How often that actually happens may vary. It is my understanding that an 083 series generally is not transferred as often as 1811, so it depends for which you are applying....

Take a mini ironing board and steam iron. You'll be very popular. Think like a team player and be prepared to help out your classmates by having extra pens and equipment for "that guy" that loses his. There will be someone there that doesn't know how to make a bed or shine their shoes, mentor...

  • Stay away. What's more important, going to a few parties or attaining your goal? There is usually underage drinking, illegal drug sale and use, and other illicit activities going on at those parties. You might not be breaking the law yourself by being present but don't want to even associate yourself...

Moral dilemma? Never. I enforce the laws according to statute and policy. Not a lot of room for pity or guilt. I feel pity for victims.

  • OP,

Do not wear anything like that. You will look like a tool. If you want to pay your respects at an LE (or EMS. Fire, or anything you are not) funeral, memorial, etc. then the suit alone will suffice. You are not "showing solidarity" unless it happens to be the funeral of another...

I agree that those moving violations are going to knock you out for now. It's probably not permanent though...two years, at minimum, of violation free driving should do it. As far as physical fitness standards go, ateamer is not wrong. I'll add though, that you should find out what your academy PT standards...

It is better for him NOT to tell you what goes on at work. Rarely do I tell my wife stories from work unless its something funny, but when I walk in the door at home I try to forget the day and my wife knows not to ask unless I seem really upset. Even if I come home with a scratch or two, I just tell...
