  • Well then, the author of the article posted by the OP is a liar....

  • OP- I'm going to take a different approach than my esteemed colleagues. I also have a different viewpoint because I am a bit younger. Law Enforcement has changed A LOT since the 80's and early 90's, and I think some of the saltier guys kind of shake their head at what the profession has become in this...

  • That's not the first time I've heard of this. It's a simple maturity issue. It might sink you for now, but a few years of responsible conduct should ameliorate this issue.

Please take this in a polite way, but I don't exaggerate and I mean what I say. The "lethal BAC" threshold actually sits at a 0.4%, but there is a bevy of cases documented higher than that. A Google search will tell you that the highest recorded BAC for a living individual is 0.914, if not...

I've had it happen. Rare, but I've seen it. Obviously you're more likely to get WAT, OLS, etc. I've also had a guy walking and talking normally at a .49...

If you have a beer, fumble your wallet and blow at a .02%, that alone is not enough. Bump that up to a .05% and fail HGN or something else and we might be looking at a hook. Add a moving violation on top of that and it's likely a done deal.

You second example...that'd be a "nope"...

We have DRE's in agency. Don't need them for alcohol arrests under .08, just drugs....

Your question was asked and answered, and you are going to have a hard time on these forums and in life with an attitude like that. Keep in mind also that policy can differ from practice; an agency might say two years clean is acceptable, but wash you anyway because another applicant has NO use. Stealing...

True, but I wouldn't deal with that kind of stuff roadside...the powers that be can sort out anything like that after drop off at the resort. With regard to DUI- if you are impaired you go to jail, no questions. That includes impairment under .08...

I think I echo a common sentiment when I say that the new format sucks.

Iowa...would you clean out your PM's? I would like to message you on a unrelated matter, but you have too many messages, apparently....

  • Considering the composition skills you just displayed, I have doubts about either the veracity of your claim to hold a J.D. or the standards to graduate law school these days. Not that my profession is famous for our grammatical acumen, but I would expect a lawyer to write better than you just did....

  • I like what ateamer said. It sounds like a confidence issue.

However, from an FTO standpoint, have you tried realistic physical scenario based training? That's something we went over in FTO school. Find a "subject matter expert" (meaning the biggest, meanest DT instructor you...

I'm going to burst your bubble and tell you there aren't "many police who have" used drugs "10-15" times. Replace the word "police" with "unsuccessful applicants" and you might have something....

Nothing on the resume will reveal any more relevant information than the job application. It may actually work against you if any information on it is in conflict with info on the regular application. Your best strategy is to submit exactly what they request. No more, no less.

Less YouTube, more sweating. Make certain you can smash any required minimums, i.e if they require 25 push-ups and a 12 minute 1.5 mile run, train for 50 push-ups and a 10 min run. You shouldn't hope to pass, just know you will. Best of luck....

replied to What are you reading?
Just got "Cold Zero," written by a former member of FBI HRT. Also reading "Bullet Riddled," by the first SWAT officer through the door at Columbine. Not very well written, but a heck of a story and the guy is someone you'd want on shift. Also in 2nd Kings of the Bible...one of my...
