Both pre-trial and probation are covered by FERS 6C and they get the TSP. They only thing that is different as stated about is they are not covered by OPM. I know this because I work in the feds in a position that is covered under the 6C status.

Where did you get your information from? that's not what I read. Both have the same retirement. Both are not covered underneath OPM.
