There will still be only one epic cop movie, and thats Colors.

"Ain't that just a f***in bear, oso?" - Love that LASD dude.

Colors will always be my favorite cop movie. I'm still a pretty young guy, but nothing stuck with me like Hodges did, awesome patrol methods, and the lesson that Gavin learned, just when he retold that joke at the end. Classic.

--Edit-- After Seeing Hot Fuzz, I can definitely throw it in there with my favorite cop movies.

Training Day was just not believable at all. The only thing I liked was hearing the "Crazy Guy, With The Peanut Butter, Pants Fiasco" since that was a true story, in the middle of the film.

S.W.A.T was just a horribly designed plot, wrapped in lame, shipped in a stupid box.

The Departed was entertaining, but more of a mobster movie, than a cop movie.

As for the best chase, I'd have to go with either the Blues Brothers, or The Rock.

Collateral wasn't neccisarily a cop movie, but I totally believed Tom Cruises killer intent when he was moving all tacticool like with that USP. Just that alley scene, where he drew down, was awesome.

Kinda miss L.A.P.D Life on the Beat for television, I know its old, but they caught a lot of goodies in that time.

And I know this may sound mean, but I can't watch any of "The Scariest [blah-blah involving PD]" I can't stand John Benell's voice anymore.

I haven't seen The Wire but I hear it's like The Shield on steroids.

I was looking at The Wire 3rd season DVD at the store today, then I saw the price tag. $85.

No box with discs in it should ever cost that much.

I love "The Wire", but the one program that really gave me nightmares was "To Live and Die in L.A." When the FBI U/C was killed and the two Secret Service agents heard the "suspect" descriptions..............

I love most of the Michael Mann films:
                            HEAT, COLLATERAL, MANHUNTER, MIAMI VICE.
Then there's the French Connection, Serpico, Donnie Brasco and Colors.
                            Great cop movies.
Also the First 48 on A&E.

I'll add "Harsh Times" to the list, not because it was one of the best police movies (decent though) but one of the most realistic as far as the hiring process goes
