What should I go rent first?

Anyone got any ideas for really cool movies that just must be seen in high def?

Gladiator. The opening battle scene makes it worthwhile all by itself.

The last Batman movie...can't think of it's exact title. Dark Knight, I think. It's pretty awesome in HD. +1 to Star Trek as well. Ultraviolet.

          The Departed.

or you can stare at Jessica Alba in HD with 'Into the Blue'.

................sorry, it's not on Blu Ray yet.

            lol

"Transformers" was good and that will have great special effects.

"I Am Legend" is also a good one for special effects.

You don't even need "cool special effects" to enjoy a movie. The Departed is a good example. I was absolutely blown away when I watched it on HDTV. Seeing how crisp and sharp the picture is, along with how striking a lot of the colors are was simply amazing. Watching Jack walk through the darkened building in the opening was awesome. Even the silhouette was so sharp and distinct.

Tons of awesome are to be had with Blu-ray.

I've got surround, won't call it good but it's there, I'm in a large apt complex so the sub can't really do what it's intended w/o my brethren being called for a loud tv.

And yes on the 1080p w/ hdmi hookup, I'm not uncivilized!

Even dvd's look better in Blu-ray, so anything you rent is going to look fabulous!

                            Hard to argue with that.

Surround sound is cool, but when you rent and have neighboring walls, it sucks. It's like having a 500 horsepower sports car but no money for gas.

Anyone know if "HEAT" is available in a Blu Ray HD edition? I'd LOVE to see the gunfight scene on a nice system.
