    I don't fly much, but last couple times I have, Priceline actually had the cheapest tickets.

    Try the above...but they sometimes have a fee.

    AARP, CSAA has travel stuff also.

    Some of the airlines don't have fees...like Alaska, Jet Blue.

    I check all the travel sites (orbitz, travelocity, expedia, etc) then my preferred airline site.... last few times I flew I found the tickets cheapest on the airlines site.

    Usually the airline will have something like 5% off for making your reservations online through them.

    Best way to do this (assuming you aren't going for frequent flyer miles) is to go to one of the sites like expedia, find the airline with the lowest fare, THEN go to the airline's site to make your reservation.
