    ELECTION 2008
American flag disappears from Obama campaign jet

As part of a month-long aircraft makeover, a painted American flag was removed from the tail of Sen. Barack Obama's official campaign airplane and was replaced with the presidential candidate's trademark "O" symbol.

The refurbished 757 was unveiled to members of the news media today, 41 of whom boarded the craft and took off to meet Obama in Amman, Jordan, where the presidential candidate will stop as part of a Middle Eastern and European tour.

Obama traveled to the Mideast earlier this week on board a separate airplane.

Fox News blogger Bonny Kapp, traveling on Obama's new airplane, reported:

"The North American jet that flew Obama and his traveling crew around for much of the primary season was refurbished with new seats and power for each passenger a must on the campaign trail. And the plane that once had an American flag on its tail now sports the Obama 'O.'"

Obama's 'O' symbol is red, white and blue.

Most official U.S. government aircraft, including Air Force One, have U.S. flags on their tails.

Both Fox News and the Chicago Sun-Times posted pictures of the Obama campaign's redressed airplane, which does not have an American flag or any other U.S. national symbols on the section that sports the airplane door from which Obama and his team will enter and exit.

The airplane boasts Obama's anthem, "Change We Can Believe In" and the candidate’s website address.

The aircraft also has required identification numbers and a U.S. flag to identify the nationality of the aircraft.

According to Chicago Sun-Times reporter Lynn Sweet, the refurbished Obama aircraft features a "first class" section for the candidate and his closest advisors; several "business class" seats, and a large coach section, usually meant for the traveling press corps.

Sweet reported fruit and cheese platters greeted reporters on board the flight. Dinner options offered were beef medallions, baked tilapia or eggplant parmesan.

She wrote the Obama campaign provided overnight kits for the flight that include toothbrush, mouthwash, socks, Neutrogena body lotion and lip moisturizer, Scope mouthwash, ear plugs and a blindfold for sleeping.
Yeah, we'll be lookin at change alright.

    Here we go again..

The media trying to use this is a way to degrade Obama's background and people are falling for it.

Why do you have to wear the United States colors on your sleeve just to prove you want to be president?

Exactly. Plus, the fact that this came from a Fox News blogger... well, duh! That is the Republican party's official news network. Seems to me that the criticism of Obama usually ranges from innuendo to speculation, and usually focuses on a specific hoop that he doesn't jump through when expected. Lots of sour grapes out there now that the right is hurting politically after 6 years of absolute rule.

Personally I am sick and tired of seeing Obama on the news everyday. The man is a joke. I can't believe the American people are so stupid to back a man that has no experience and has friends/associates with very questionable backgrounds. I am convinced the people that support him have the IQ of a rock..

Well, for one thing, he won't allow it to be known as the WHITE House - if you get my drift. (That "change" thing, you know?)

              ( I know, I'm being tacky. )

Anybody else freaked out by the "Big Brother" looking posters?
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance.

                  lol... typical.

To be POTUS, you need to love this country. To love this country also leads to the love of the symbols which represent it. If you want to be the president of my country, I'd prefer you love and respect every symbol that represents it... especially the flag of the United States of America.

What about his background was spoken in this article? I didn't read anything about his upbringing or where he lived, or anything about his books, his church, his preachers, what his wife said, or anything else. I read an article that described the new look of his ride, and comforts of travel within. The fact that the American flag, the flag of the country he wants to lead, was erased, and that his own symbol replaces it, is a very notable position. It shows me he's eager to promote his own agenda over the agenda of the United States. It hints at contempt for the country. It tells me he doesn't want my vote, or the vote of millions of voters like me who love that flag.

I hope he falls flat on his face this fall. That day, I'm cracking open a very cold long neck Bud Light and giving three cheers that he didn't make it.

Of course, I'd rather have Mitt Romney as POTUS, but McCain will have to do.

I Absolutey Agree. It's too bad only ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, etc. get to be the Democratic party's official news networks. If only they could secure all the media outlets.

So the media is controlled by Democrats...and Bush, who was a Republican, was elected...then re-elected...in the past two Presidential elections...So people either aren't as influenced by the media as some would lead to believe or there is no overwhelming anti-conservative bias in the media...

Adding to that, FOX is one of the most biased networks around. Thats why Conservatives listen to it and watch it. Its not "Fair and Balanced", its just blatantly biased. They've been caught red-handed a few times...

If people wanted true balanced coverage, they'd push for it. They wouldn't simply settle for FOX news which is just as bad, if not worse, as what its intended audience accuses the other outlets of doing...

I know FOX isn't fair and balanced.. if your conservative and think it is, you might need to check your fair-o-dometer.

So... Democrats can watch whatever mirrors their beliefs but it's wrong when Republicans do it? MSNBC, CNN, that stuff ring a bell?
