  • Pop or Soda?

Stemming from something I saw on another thread, what do you say, "pop" or "soda"? I think it differs by region... here we've always said "pop". How about you?

(Hope this hasn't been done before.)

That's it. Go check other threads were exciting topics are being discussed, this was seriously just about a really comforting and invigorating 35 minute nap. Move along, nothing else to see here, move along.

When I hear the word "pop" I think someone got punched or shot.

I always heard that "pop" was a midwest thing.

Although I remember my grandpa saying "soda pop."

          Sweet tea!!!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm not a soda drinker.

I've heard it called both, but I haven't heard "pop" in years. It seems to be 100% "soda" down here now.

            lol.... a completely geographical phenomenon.

How about the fact that a lot of folks down south refer to all soda as "coke?"

I'll never forget when we had family visiting us (when I lived in KY) and a waitress asked my uncle what he wanted to drink.... he said "a coke".... she promplty responded with "What kinda coke ya want?" Ha! Then she said "we have dr. pepper, mellow yellow, etc etc...." The look on his face was priceless.

Up here in the upper midwest, it's "pop."

I say pop. I have heard it is a midwestern thing.

Another midwestern standby. Euchre. And yes I think im the only one in the state of Michigan who cannot play that game.
This show is awesome, wrapped in supercool and smothered in bitchin. The only way it could be cooler is if he was riding a unicorn or something.

We call it pop. My Dad grew up during the Depression, never had pop, but when I was growing up, he called it soda. This may have come from when he was if the service in WWII and the guys he served with, where he was stationed.

                        Soda.

I've discovered that in Texas, it's "coke", everywhere else it's Soda, or pop.

I call it soda but I'm originally from New York. In Michigan everyone calls it "pop" and when I say soda people look at me like I just farted in church.
