I hear you. It sounds as though you and I had the same kind of week.

I thought of you when a male pt of mine who made my skin crawl told me to give him a hug as he was discharging. It would have been nice to have had one of your recommended tools available as he held out his hand and beckoned me over. I offered up a male co-worker and walked away. Of all of the disgusting things we have joked about on this thread, dealing with that kind of crap from male pts is what turns my stomach the most. Unfortunately, that incident was one of the easier parts of my week. The positive is that I'm on call this weekend and my cell hasn't beeped one time. whoo-hoo!

    As usual, IOWA doesn't count.

I really hope IOWA doesn't rip me a new one for joking with him.

You’re afraid of Iowa? Just keep your distance. Keep in mind Iowa doesn’t get mad; he get even…over the years I’ve pushed the envelope a little too far and took the necessary precautions…..

The above map (red dots) illustrates the route taken during a family RV motor trip to the east coast. Blue dots show return trip.

Seriously, Iowa has a witty sense of humor; you may want to consider sending Iowa a few monogrammed folded T-towels.

NOLA, that was a great WTF moment. As you know, it's not uncommon for surgeons not to explain the intricacies of the procedure( and your post explains why) with the pt., so pts are often bewildered about the extent of pain they experience post surgery...........

Pt: What do you mean I will be on one table, but my intestines will be on another?

Surgeon: It's a necessary part of the procedure.

Pt: Are you sure you know how to put those back in right?

Surgeon: Well, if you start pooping out of your mouth instead of your anus, then we know I made a mistake.

No worries. If I get into trouble with my superiors it'll be of my own doing.
