how can a student receive a F for writing a opinion based paper. All the student needs to do is show time and effort to get a decent grade.
America is the place where you can voice opinions and college is the place where you shouldn't be hasseled about it.

i agree with that, its not his job to force his beliefs on you, unless you are writing a paper that is illegal by federal law ie-advocating a violent overthrow of the gov. he has no right to bar you from writing about a topic or the point of view you take,
i thought college was about making you think and explain your thinking. i see it has gotten worse since i gradyoulated from it.

I was not able to read all of it, but see no reason for an F, so far. There is no reason ever for anybody to call anybody names EVER! Your prof. has a problem and its not with your paper. Could he be calling you a reverse racist? Could it be that he does not approve of your paper because of the poor image of the White media? Its possible...some people are kooky like that.

i agree, go to the dean or the head of that dept. that is why they are there, i also agree that it is common to find a snobish profess. thats not why they should be there,
my fresh. yr i had a white german woman for an english teach, comp 1 and comp 2, i guess she felt really bad cause of what her ancestors did, every paper we wrote was about racism, for both classes. 1 paper every two wks, about racism, she was very critical on white male students, she and i had it out about 3/4 of the way through the first semester, and things were fine after that,
i also had a pecker head that was anti cop teaching CJ classes, but he was also an *** to just about everyone, but anyway, on my way to class one morning after the night shift, i saw one of our officers fighting a guy from a traffic stop, so of course i help, well i was late for class and missed the test, he told me "you need to get your priorities straight, here is you F" well, because i went to the dean, i got to take the test, and he was a completely different person the next semester, which was also his last.

I have accepted F and I know one more student wrote on same topic as me. But I'm not going to cause living hell for myself while here, nor do I intend to stir any cages.
Granted I can understand why you don't wanna stir any crap around. I don't know what kind of student you are, but if you have a bad exam or something, this could seriously come back and bit you in the ***. If I were you, I would be very upset if I would failed a class because I had a bad exam, and didn't talk to the Dean about a paper I wrote in the first couple of weeks in school.

Another thing you need to do, is if you have a friend or two in your class. Ask them if you can read their paper that they wrote, and see how your's is different. After you do this, if the points between each paper are similar take both of the papers to the Dean. And tell them the situation, and say they got a B, and I got an F. SAME POINTS, DIFFERENT GRADE. DON'T TAKE AN F.

Originally posted by pkagelWell then, back to my Thomas Sowell comment. Please read his book, more than one if you can find them. Their are a lot of reasons behind the outcomes and racisim is but a symptom of a bigger problem and not the cause in and of itself. Their are other writers out there, he just happens to be my favorite. BTW, he is black, in his 60's, lived through segregation, has a doctorate in economics and is a Fellow at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University. So his background has given him a very broud basis. He uses empirical evidence and not conjecture to reach his conclusions which is a nice change in this day and age.
Okay will do. I'll see if they have them at UNI library or public library. Thanx

Paper was written from African-American's stand point of view which we were instructed by Prof. to do. But much of it doesn't make sense and grammar is off the wall.

While I disagree with most of what you have written, besides a few grammer mistakes it seems to be a well written paper. I think he should have graded you on that fact alone. To call you a racist though, that is just wrong.
I would implore you to read Thomas Sowell's book "The economics and politics of race." It might open your eyes to a few other reasons for the problems you mentioned.
As far as the media goes, I agree with your conclusion on the outcome of what they do but I don't agree that it is motivated by racisim. The media is motivated by money and only money. Witness Fox News. Until Fox came about we had nearly a one sided argument on all the news channels. When Fox came in and showed that you could have other views and make tons of cash doing so the other channels started changing and presenting other ideas.
All in all though, a well written paper. I hope you do some more studying on the issue from both sides of the political spectrum so that you can strengthen your arguments whatever they may be then.
