So..in my ethics class we watched movie "A Time to Kill." And professor told us to write paper that would support the movie. Piece of cake..not hardly. Topic I choose was Mass Media & Racism. Professor didn't like it, called me racist and told me to revise it. Although if any of you have seen it, during summation, the defense counsel goes on telling the story how Carl Lee's daughter was raped etc was my last paragraph.
In my paper, I wrote about media's treatments of African-Americans.

Okay I'm done for now before I get snotty and start god only knows what.

Where do you go to school.......no matter where it is; your teacher has no right to call you a racist. Did you not do the assignment properly? What is his/her problem with it?

Refresh my memory on a Time to Kill...its been many years.

It's UNI here in IA. I did assignment exactly how his sorry pathetic human idea wanted it. Obviously someone forgot their prozac before he told me I was racist. But hey to each their own I suppose. I'm not going to argue with him. Heck he thinks everyone is racist pretty much.

This is short story of the movie. Matthew McConaughey, a young, attractive and highly-skilled attorney is faced with the toughest case of his life, one that on many occassions may also threaten it. In the southern Mississippi town of Canton, the K.K.K. is active and the tension is high when the black majority is angered at the raping and slaying of a black man's 10-year-old daughter. Against Jake's advice, the distraught father takes revenge, gunning down the two criminals in the local courthouse. Racial hatred hightens with the suspense and conflict threatens to break out regardless of the verdict. Jake must decide, along with his new, eager assisstant whether he and his family can run the risk of defending the man.

I had a teacher in college who called me a racist based solely on the fact that I wrote a paper on Miami-Dade county's Diversity which stated that it was mostly Hispanic and Black and the culture was diverse.

        According to the 2003 census:

Black population was 21.51%, Hispanic was 60.95% and White/Other (17.54)
        the remaining..

Teachers can be just as ignorant as anyone else.

I just keep my mouth shut now in my Native Studies classes to avoid being accused of anything. So far all of my profs have been aboriginal and from watching other's voice their opinions in class, if you don't agree with what the prof is saying, you're racist. I'm not ****ing racist! Don't tell me that aboriginals don't commit any crimes when the majority of the people sitting in the security lock-up in Wal-mart are aboriginal. I'm not saying they all do and that they are all bad, but some do, and that's what I'm pointing out.

As long as you were respectful and not using offensive terms, I don't think your prof can accuse you of being racist.

Okay fine I admit the paper was PR-African American. Since the movie was anti-african american during that time, when KKK was down etc. Well, I give up.. I'll gladly take an F in this course, then try to suck up to this ________.

I have a Social Science degree from Boise State U. Boise is a pretty conservative city....but the profs in the Social Science dept are way too liberal. I almost dropped my Social Theory class, which I needed to graduate.....the prof was a Bush Basher...even when the soldiers who took the class were dressed in uniform. He and I butted heads every now and then because I voted for Bush and let him know about it and my husband was a salaried employee for a company he viewed as capitalist pigs .......but he never called me names. Out of class, he and I got along just fine...and he knew I was the exact opposite of him...politically, that is.

I stayed in the class because my brother told me just to learn what he taught...."spit it out" on the tests, so to speak and get it over with so I could graduate. I ended up with a B instead of the A I wanted because of my lack of desire to learn his version of the theories being taught.

With classes such as Social Theory and ethics, etc.....one has to leave views and emotions at the door and just learn and spit out what the teacher wants...and move on. Its a pain, but it has to be done. If he is an ethics prof, he more than likely is a looney liberal with granola for brains, so.........you must submit for a grade. But, document his poor behavior towards you...if you need to report him to the dean or do an appeal for a grade change, it may come in handy.

Some of the most ignorant, biased, opinionated, rascist people I've ever met were TEACHERS.

                    * dodges angry mob *

Hear me out on this before you lynch me !!!

I've had some EXECLLENT teachers in my lifetime that expanded my knowledge of the world w/o sneaking in their own agendas/beliefs. I have a lot of teacher clients who have bashed their own co-workers for corrupting young minds !!! Too many people go into teaching just so they can preach their own beliefs and shove their propoganda down the throats of impressionable youth. I run into mindless drones, fresh out of high school or college, regurgitating the beliefs of their professors/teachers, but having no opinions of their own. This really sickens me !!! It comes down to organized brainwashing !!!

Education should be broad, unbiased information that is given to allow people to make up their OWN MINDS about the world around them - not opinionated rhetoric used to twist people into "mini-me's" of their teachers/professors.

A big "thank you" to the teachers out there that still TEACH their students and don't manipulate them !!!

Dont ever accept an "F" I have done that before and it hurts in the long run!

What the hell does he want and have you asked him what he wants...did he even give you an example. Were you supposed to use a theory he has reviewed?
