Anyone in Washington DC?

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but there you go.

Does anyone here work in DC? The reason i ask is i'm an English copper and shall be in DC next month and would be very interested in trying to get on a ride along to see how you lads and lasses do it over there.

If not is it recommendable to just go to a station and ask there or will i be turned away?

I was told by an officer with MPD that you just show up at a precint with your ID and someone will take you. I filled and faxed a form for a ride along and never heard back from them
