  • Roller Rink Horror

Holy Crap!! Last night we went to the roller rink to let our Belarussian guest ( a young man) have some fun, well watching pre-teenage girls practice how to give lap dances was NOT my idea of fun! We skated innocently around the rink for a couple of crap-rap songs then it is announced that there will be a "dance commpetition." It was like a dance-off where there were two teams of two face off. One person would dance for 20 seconds then step back allowing a person from the opposing team to dance. This sounds fun and innocent enough, but I am not kidding these girls looked like all they were missing was a pole! My hubbie, brother and I were so uncomfortable! I want to know who legalized kiddie porn!!! The announcer guy actually had to tell them to "keep it clean." (shizer)
I guess the moral of my rant is, DON'T drop off your girls at the roller rink and go home to your football game or mowing the lawn or what not......they are perfecting the moves that will support them through college!

What age should you start letting your kids go out on there own and have some fun.

I was 15 when my parents cut me loose.

Somewhere around 25 sounds good to me. Along with being a p/t cop, I am also a middle school teacher. I hear everyday what these kids are into. There is know way I would let my boys go anywhere without reliable adult supervision until they were atleast 16. Even then, I would question it heavily.

I am not a prude....well okay I am AND a new parent so maybe my glasses are a little more "midnight" colored than "rose", but there is a big difference between MY age 13 and THEIR age 13. I rode into town by myself, hung out in the neighborhood till dark, and visited a friend in eastern wa for a week......but this is WAY different...waaaaaay different. crikey!

My son will be allowed to have lots of fun.....he just won't be allowed to watch 10 and 11 year old girls shake their behinds 3 feet from his face....fun is water sports, music ( I will even let him have a garage band) bicycles, hiking, boy scouts, police explorers, ice cream, game cube, worms...... don't worry about him
