Those big black vinyl disks called 33-1/3 rpm LPs way back then that were pretty much all we had to listen to music with, and the 8 track tapes that never really worked right, and the portable casette recorder LOL.
Boy were those primative compared to DVDs.

I know Linda Ronstadt from her operatic roles, she didn't do a lot of opera but she was talented and her voice had quite a dynamic range.
She is probably best known in operatic singing for her role as "Mabel" in Gilbert and Sullivan "Pirates of Penzance" this small theater production was done in Central Park (NYC) back in the early 80s I believe:

From the same production she leads into the Major Generals' part, this fellow was simply amazing, this is extremely difficult, rapidly sung tongue twister of an aria and he handles it like a boss, near the end of it at 4:15 after all the applause he sings it even faster still!
