  • Headed to Charlotte, NC

In June on business for 5 days. Staying at the Westin on South College Street. Need suggestions on where the good food is, places to see, or go for adult beverages, etc. Thanks in advance!

I have only one important suggestion, get some Bojangles fried chicken and sweet tea, and add in a cinniamon biscuit while you're at it.

When I moved from Charlotte about 6 years ago Uptown (not downtown as uptown sounds more classy according to the city council) was growing rapidly, I do remember Cosmos Cafe being a good place for a drink, and a view. It doesn't have the college crowd as much, a bit older of a group than most of the other spots.

South End Brewery is good for food too, stay out of west charlotte. If you want a laugh and like line dancin you can go to Coyote Joe's but there will probably be some redneck wanna be gangsters trying to shoot each other in the parking lot.

I don't agree with your opinion, but I respect its straightforwardness in terms of wrongness.

Thanks. I'll be sure and check it out. As for the line dancing, I'll pass. To me it's just, well, disco for the rhythmically impaired.

I forgot how much you loved Bojangles and all the biscuit makers....lol

I miss me some bojangles chicken, closest thing to it I can get here is Popeyes, not the same. I used to drink the tea there by the gallon.

In CA if you want sweet teat they bring you unsweet and a packet of sugar substitute along with a funny look. I actually made a pitcher of sweet tea just like my maw-maw taught me for a dinner gathering I had at my house a few weeks ago. The southerners that were there all hurried up and got a glass, lots of ice. The CA people were reluctant to try it but somehow 2 gallons dissapeared in about 5 minutes.

You know how hard it was to sit next to her for hours and not bring that up??But Smurf, that WAS the first thing I thought when mtxpro mentioned it.

One of my favorite places in Charlotte to eat and grab a beer was at The Penguin. The food is great and it's a pretty fun crowd. I don't think it's that far away from where you're staying. http://www.yelp.com/biz/penguin-drive-in-charlotte.

Inmates seem really into counting the number of officers it took to take them down. If only their love of math had blossomed earlier.
