Just baseball cards having gum in it...

Remember when baseball players wore those weird socks?
Remember when Happy meals cost $1.99?
Remember when Bill Clinton was president (well I don't remember that one much, didn't know about politics)?

        I also remember:

        rotary dial telephones
        telephone party lines
black & white television that only received VHF channels 2 thru 13
        automobiles with real steal bumpers
service stations where customers were not allowed to pump gas
        phonographs
Living it one day at a time.

Yes to Cracker Jacks (my brother and I would fight over the prizes), and metal lunchboxes (mine was WonderWoman).

1)How about Burger Chef fast food restaurants? or was that just a Mich. thing?

            2) party lines on the telephone

            3) no remote controls (well as a kid you were dad's remote) (then if you turned the knob to fast dad would tell you that you were going to break it) many a matchbooks went behind the channel knob in our household.

            4) black & white TV and it would take awhile to heat up and the little white dot that would stay on when you shut it off

            5) 25 cent ice cream cones

            6) cold pop in glass bottles on a hot summer day. I can still remember getting the small bottles (8oz I think) that came out of the pop machines where you would open the door and pull the bottle out by the top.

            5)

            5)

I remember being upset when the price of nickel candy bars jumped to ten cents.

I also delivered for Chicken Delight. I have avoided eating chicken ever since seeing how it was prepared by Chicken Delight staff.

My Pop's big screen TV that he got when he retired finally went last summer. So while I'm looking to see if it's something that could be fixed my Mom says "Maybe it just needs a new picture tube." Mom TV's haven't had tubes for a long time. Too funny.

This thread and the "what tv shows did you watch as a kid" are really showing some of your ages

I can relate more to the fordman318/SFG time frame

And remembering playing on one of these bad boys? The game cartridges were so horrible you always had to blow the dust out of it each and every time

                              • Comic books were twelve cents, "Annuals" were 25 cents!
                              • Little bottles of Coke or Pepsi were a nickel.
                              • RC Cola.
                              • Simba.
                              • The guy at the gas station filled your tank, checked your oil, cleaned your windshield, and gave you a glass! He didn't sit in a glass booth just taking money and muttering in some foreign tongue.
                              • The Akron store.
                              • Going to the movies was always a double feature, in our town a guy played the organ during intermission, and the movies changed every Wednesday.
                              • Sizzler sold steak sandwiches ONLY...a ribeye cut on a Kaiser roll, with fries in a plastic basket with that waxed paper.

Three things I know for sure: (1) No bad deed goes unrewarded, (2) No good deed goes unpunished, and (3) It is entirely possible to push the most devoted, loyal and caring person beyond the point where they no longer give a 5h!t.
