Problem with an outboard

So I'm having problem with my 15 horse Johnson.



It just had a tune up last year (carb rebuild and what not) and was running fine.
I put Stabil in the gas tank when I winterized it.


Now this year it wouldn't start. I put in new spark plugs and she starts fine now. However, when attempt to go to full throttle the engine dies.


I can putz around at low speed, but as soon as I attempt to go faster it dies.



Does anyone know what this problem might be and what the solution could be?

or could be an issue with the throttle control area.

Fuel on? Tank full? When priming the ball, does it get hard? Let it warm up and then try to give it gas? If it shuts down, try again, but with the choke on...

What's a powerpack?


.

the powerpack is part of the electrical system, usually on a 2 cylinder you'll have one for each cylinder, it delivers the ignition to the cylinder etc.

if your johnsons too small as someone else said, you might need to upgrade...

seriously, the powerpack messing up is generally a couple hundred bucks, kind of salty, but hey you know what a boat is...

Maybe I can help HEDP, I don't have any experience on outboards but small engines I do. You said that the carb was recently done, one thing that can happen to small engines is that the carburetor does not seat properly or, the gasket might be bad or broken. I've gotten new parts for my Mustang, my truck, the wifes mini, my daughters Bronco and seen defective parts, gaskets too. I have also had similar problems that you decsribed and come to find out the carb was about to fall off...
