Were they just checking for warrants, or actually running a Charlie Hotel?

I can run someone through NCIC/FCIC and check for warrants all day with little risk of getting caught (Unless they happened to be flagged somehow...then you're screwed...) but running a CH? Oh heck no. You have the put the Officer Requesting's name in the field, and if you mess around, FDLE will be on you like flies on a turd!

Which would be crippling to an agency.

It's better to put the guy in jail, and let the agency function. And I can't believe it's not illegal in his state.

Learned my lesson in my early days of LE. One of those good slow nights we were running various VIP names on the state computer. Let's just say we ran one and within a minute I was on the phone with the Secret Service. After their little pep talk, I never made that mistake again!
So, yes people...state computers are monitored

There was a thread about this, after someone abused his NCIC. Somewhere in General LEO topics. Why not to abuse the NCIC and how you can get your *** handed to you.

The thing is I believe they are really doing it ans see nothing wrong with it. It never ceases to amaze me what that bottom one percent thinks is ok.

Hey, lets look at porn on the work computer. Even better, wouldn't it be funny to look at hard core porn on the majors computer since he forgot to log off after work.

Lets date the chick we just took a DV on and took her husband to jail. Even better why don't I just show up after shift for a little chicka-chicka bow-wow. What could go wrong, right?

Lets frequent a restaurant because they give a discount in uniform. Better yet. Lets go to a reasturant and demand a gratuity when it isn't offered and make a scene.

Tons of stupidty that goes on. The funny thing is they never see anything wrong with it. No matter who tells them its a bad idea. These are the guys that make that particular policy. You know the ones I'm talking about.

They can also pull your entries....if the violations are severe enough.

My Point! Yes we CAN run subjects all day,(BTW dont know about your system, but ours requires officers name on ALL inquiries),but NOT for personal reasons.Thats why my suggestion was not to stop it,simply not to brag about it on an open forum.I did not tell him to delete the post, just edit out the part about the free meals.
