    Just another curious thread brought to you by az4code23.

    Okay, so the mayo thread prompted me to start this thread. So, what do you prefer? Wheat or white. Well, growing up poor, all we could afford was wheat, but now white bread is cheaper than wheat, but hey farmers have to make money too. So, now, I won't really eat wheat, mostly white bread. I eat it plain also, with Miracle Whip!

              Im not super picky but usually a good multigrain bread is the most tasty....or a crusty french bread....YUM.

                    They are nearly all wheat or wheat based. Except for gluten-free.

                    Back when I COULD eat bread, I enjoyed both varieties of dark and varieties of white bread. Wonder bread, however (as well as many other manufactured breads) is just plain tasteless. Basically white paste.

                    Ditto with manufactured dark breads. Much of the "brown" in those breads derives from artificial color. Few are truly whole wheat or whole grain. Take a look at the labels & see for yourself. And they, too, often taste like paste.

                    The best breads regardless of shade come from your hometown bakeries & chances are you won't find comparable breads on your grocery shelves. Unless it's a grocery with it's own bakery.

                    Panini, sour dough, and other variety white breads are delicious. So are different varieties of dark bread.

                    The difference in tasty versus pasty is the difference between breads manufactured to suit mass tastes and to last forever on the shelf, and those that are made by real bakers instead of machines.

                          Whole grain, if not available, wheat. White bread is nothing but baked wall paper paste.

                            I like a nice heavy rye but a multigrain wheat will do. I like the crunch of the grain in the bread. Sara Lee makes a wonderful Berry Whole Grain Wheat bread.

                            This is good too! Did you know that Wendy's used to use only potatoe bread? (That is why their bread was yellow.) This is the trick to a truely awesome burger IMO.
