  • Songs with girls names AS the title. ( need help).

OK, ladies and gents. Each and every day( since a few days ago) I decided to post a video to my facebook page that has a girl's name AS the title, not merely IN the title. In other words, Michelle by the Beatles would qualify whereas My Michelle by G and R wouldn't.

I am not necessarily trying to go alphabetically but I started with "A" as a logical starting point but would deviate if I were in the mood for a great song. So far I have posted:

    Alison- Declan McManus
    Amanda- Boston
    Amie- Pure Prairie League
Athena- The Who( love this song).

Hook me up guys and gals. Give me some ideas.

Sleeping Giant. They're not fat and happy anymore. They are hungry and increasingly angry. That is not a good recipe for a "Puppies and Rainbows America".

The song "Angie", performed by the Rolling Stones, is as kind and tender a song as Mr. Jagger and Mr. Richards ever wrote together with a girl's name as the title. "Ruby Tuesday", also by the Rolling Stones, is another great and kind song. "Roxanne", by The Police, is another great song with a girl's name as the title. "Delilah", by Tom Jones, is excellent. So is "Suzanne", by Leonard Cohen. And Chuck Berry's "Maybelline" is great too. And Little Richard's "Lucille" must never be forgotten.

Excellent choices, Monty. I had completely forgotten Angie by the Stones.

Amanda by Waylon Jennings is a great one also. Good thing he won that bet.

Barbara Ann, by the Beach Boys,

Billie Jean, by Michael Jackson (he should always have written songs to defend himself instead of hiring lawyers and making payoffs),

Peggy Sue, by Buddy Holly! (deserves to be bolded)

"Santa Lucia", sung by Ernesto Caruso. I don't know if it meets your criteria, because athough the song title is a girl's name (with honorific), the song title refers to a place named after the girl. I embedded a youtube video of it in another thread on this board, but that thread was about something very sad and serious, so rather than link to that post here, I'll just post the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bdot-PCpFps

The only thing is that the Title has to be a girl's name, not just have one in it. Therefore, I can't use songs like Jamie's crying.

Thanks for the other Declan McManus song Veronica. I remembered Alison but completely forgot Veronica. Great song.
