Sword Severs Burglar's Hand, Cops Say

BALTIMORE, Md. - A college student in Baltimore, Maryland used a samurai sword to kill a suspected burglar on Tuesday, police said.
According to investigators, the Johns Hopkins University student heard noises coming from the garage of his residence. He armed himself with the sword and found the man hiding, they said.
The intruder attacked the student, who fought back with the sword, investigators said.
Police said the suspect died after suffering a severed hand and a severe cut to his upper body.
He had a lengthy criminal record, police said.
Investigators were trying to determine if charges would be filed against the student.
