As for the eyes It’s normal for the red of the lower lids to appear, his is a bit excessive he likes to play in the sand box (the cat’s in the neighborhood leave him presents he insists on finding) so they get irritated quite often.

Excellent temperament, very loyal, playful, there down fall is there smell, if you don’t pay attention to them they get into trouble and the drool, God do they drool, it is horrible. But no matter how mad you get at them that face, the sad look gets you every time. One has to own a basset to fully understand.

Awesome dog. My older brother has a German Short-haired Pointer--black. He is the most athletic, loyal, and fun dog I've ever met. I love going to visit because he's a great running partner. I've never seen him lose energy. He can run all day and entertain himself whenever he is outside.

I have two of them, both females. They gang up on my Chocolate Lab male and play for hours. They are also very high strung.
