Can you figure out the brain teaser?

One night 3 men go to a hotel and rent a $30.00 room. Each man chips in $10.00 and then they head to their room. A bit later the hotel clerk tells the bell boy to bring them $5.00 back because he had made a mistake and the room should have only been $25.00. On the way to the room the bell boy tried to figure out how to split $5.00 between 3 people so rather than doing that he kept $2.00 and gave each man back $1.00.

If each man gave 10 but got 1 back then they each paid $9.00

9+9+9= 27

The bell boy kept $2.00

9+9+9+2= 29

Where did the other dollar go?

I fail to see a mystery here. There is $25 in the till, $2 for the bellboy, and $3 for the guys. How is there a dollar missing here?
