Mythbusters tried really hard to do that to rifles and shotguns and didn't get it to work.
I am having a hard time buying this. What is the source?
All that damage to the rifle and so little damage to the laser device!????

I think the Mythbusters were trying to debunk the myth of the finger in the barrel. I am not sure where the posted photos originated, they were e-mailed to me.
It's better to be hated for what you are, then to be loved for what you are not.
We've got some rifles that we show kids in hunter ed. that were fired when the barrel was plugged, or some with the wrong size ammo. None look like that rifle. They either do damage around the bolt or splits the barrel at the end about an inch or so.
Looking at the pic it appears to be photoshopped. The top split especially.
