I really hope things are good with her.

We get SO few that have what it takes between the ears, and she seems like one that does have what it takes between the ears.

Hey everyone, I finally got some good insoles for my boots and shoes and it has been a lifesaver. I feel a lot better with P.T. and I'm 2 months in. 1st LD passed, EVOC passed, taser done. Just taking it day by day.

Yes, I apologize for not responding. I'm sure you remember academy life is no life and I don't get notifications when someone responds. I appreciate the support.

No apology necessary. A number of us are pulling for you.

How was the Taser? Where did you get the probes? Where did you get drive-stunned? Did you do the "daisy-chain" thing where they have you link arms and hook one wire up to the person on each end?

It was awful lol. We were told we had to get tased twice. One by prongs and one with the dry gun. They had us lay down with one person each each side holding us. They had me cross my arms underneath holding on to my vest. They put the prong on my right shoulder and one on the lower right leg. I tried so hard to not make a noise and grunted. Lol

I get pepper sprayed and gassed next month. I haven't gone through that, but I think I would rather get tased again. Not a fan of stuff in my eyes hehe.

I just realized I have two more evoc tests this Thursday. Code 3 and pursuit. I passed the slow tests, 65 mph, skid and avoidance traffic collision (that one was fun, but scary at first).

I did firearms last week and that was rough. I might hire someone to help me with that. They switched my 40 cal sig for a glock because the sig was way too big for my hands and I struggled. I didn't get to practice with the glock yet.

The Glock is simpler to operate.

When it comes to firearms, safety is the MOST important thing. NEVER muzzle-sweep yourself or anyone else.

Small females with no background in firearms tend to struggle with firearms in general, but they also tend to have no bad habits to overcome.

As far as getting an outside professional to help, that may help, as long as what they teach you doesn't conflict with what your agency teaches you. It is not practice that makes perfect, it is PERFECT practice that makes perfect.

The Taser is no fun, but your fear of the OC spray can actually help you- OC spray is a pain compliance tool, and adrenaline can overcome pain, so the more scared you are of it, the more likely that you'll do okay. One of the important things they're gonna be looking for, is panic- some people panic when they can't see, are having trouble breathing, and are in a lot of pain from the OC spray. You need to decide beforehand, that you're not gonna panic, and that you're gonna fight through it to accomplish whatever task they have you do. It's gonna hurt like Hell, and it's gonna hurt even worse once your adrenaline wears off. JalapeƱo peppers are a couple thousand SHU (Scoville Heat Units), and OC spray is a couple MILLION SHUs. Everyone perceives it differently, but to me it felt like someone used a leaf blower to spray my face with crushed glass and burning gasoline...for about two hours. Cold water will give you SOME relief from the pain, but water also re-activates the pepper, so you're going to have to wean yourself off it at some point. And you're going to have more snot than you've ever experienced- it's gonna be coming out of your nose AND your mouth- just blow it out so that you can get some air to breathe, and keep going- it's gonna get all over you, that's just the way it is.

Thank you, I will definitely remember this. I just passed my last evoc tests today for pursuit and code 3. I'm not sure why I stress out during the practices and then I'm calm during the tests, it's legit the weirdest part of how I'm handling tests.

As for firearms I will do my best to practice dry shooting. I know someone who can help assist me. I will definitely keep the pepper spray in mind.i appreciate all the feedback.

I'll pass something along that I learned back in the seventies, when I went through the academy.

If you wear contact lenses, especially the soft contacts, take them OUT before they spray you in the face! I was not told this and I really suffered. I was useless the rest of the day and had to use a whole bottle of artificial tears to ease the pain.

              Good luck!

Thank you. Luckily I don't wear contacts. I know some people who do and I will relay the message to them.
