If you failed twice at the END of the Academy, it is because you sabotaged yourself. If you TRY your HARDEST at the end scenario, an examiner will normally pass you. You cheated yourself.

From late 2016 to May of this year, I went to a technical college with an embedded 720 hour police academy (non-sponsored). As a mostly quiet guy with nothing to say, fresh out of high school, and only a year of fast food experience, I always wondered if this was the right career path for me because Ive barely had any life experiences yet.

I had this thought with me half way through the college/academy when I thought that maybe I should just drop out of the academy and change my program because I just kind of believed that no agencies out there would even consider hiring me even if I do graduate. But, since I was already half way through finishing, I decided to stay.

During the 2nd last day of the academy, just before graduation, I failed the test out scenario. I also failed my second chance, with a different scenario. In the end, I was only able to get an Associate Degree in criminal Justice with a GPA of 3.7 and a Technical Diploma in Criminals justice - Law Enforcement. I couldn’t become an officer.

At first, I was really disappointed that I failed, But now, I’m actually glad that I failed because I truly believe now that being an officer really was what I wanted to be and maybe I was just overthinking things too much. I really did miss doing what I was taught in the academy, thinking like an officer and solving things. I’m now in the process of going back to college to get a bachelors in criminal justice and after that, maybe give the academy a retry because I’m still young (20) and don’t want to give up just yet.

I’d appreciate any advice/criticism/opinion about my life choices thus far.
There are MANY people out there that are "academy graduates" that have no business being in the business. Lots of people are smart enough to pass the classroom classes but are unable to perform the functions.

Decide if you are going to really want to be in the Law Enforcement profession and figure out what you want to do with your life.

I say sure, give another academy a shot. It's your time and money, not the taxpayers.

If you fail it a second time, then maybe there will be no doubt that LE is not for you.

Or maybe not? Third time's a charm!

But seriously. You're 20. That's late adolescence. Perhaps you should wait a year or two before starting another academy and get some life experience under your belt. And no more fast food work.

What a long strange trip its been.
