  • Improving weight lifting for PT

I am the only female in a small academy, and our PT consists of a lot of heavy weight lifting. I have never really lifted the amount of weights we started with, and I'm concerned since I'm the smallest and weakest in the class. How can I improve on this and get to a level where I am able to do the exercises the rest of the class can?

Nothing to be concerned about, everyone will always have a starting point whether its early on or even later.

If you have a gym membership, try to go at least twice a week depending on how your academy schedule is like. If you dont have a membership or even dont have the time to go to the gym, try to invest on a small gym set up at home. You dont need to get everything. Just the basics such as a barbell along with plates ranging from 5lbs to 25lbs. Same with dumbbells. There are plenty of routines online where you can utilize those. Also, try even incorporating PT style workouts with weightlifting.

Dont forget the cardio also! Hope that helps

I graduated from my first Police Academy in 1981 (CA) and we did not do weighlifting then or now. Boxing and grabbling would make more sense, JMHO.
