University Police Officer Killed by Orlando Police Officer

He was working with the state's version of the ATF at the time of the shooting. At FIUPD, we sent some of our guys up to be a the funeral.

And ftlaudcop, do you have any further on what happened with the death of the Officer who fell off I95?

I'm in the Police Academy, One of our instructors (ATF Agent) was right there when it happened. He stated that people were reporting that he was tazered and that is what caused him to pull the trigger. He said that he saw five people starting to talk to the University Officer, he turned to continue dealing with an underage girl (drinking) who he was dealing with. He said that he believes that the Officer shot out of self defence. He said the the University Officer only shot twice, there was a 4 to 6 second pause, and then the other officer shot at the University Officer. The University Officer was working under cover with ATF agents. It is a terrible tragedy. I think we need to give the University Officer the benefit of a doubt. I'm sure that he felt completely justified in his decision to fire, as did the Officer that shot and killed him. None of us will ever know what he was thinking, but I think we can all agree he wasn't thinking " Hum, ill just fire 2 or 3 shots in the air and throw my life as I know it away!"

and yr not talkin about the same crowd you'd find in the
state of iowa, probably a nasty thug, new orleans crowd
and you were surrounded by 25 gangsters,about to end yr career...
don't think he had to many choices.....

Why the HELL would you fire three shots into the air ?????????
I think the officer that fired the fatal shots was the one that was killed.
You can get as mad at me as you want but to stand in a crowd and fire three shots into the air there just is no reason on earth to do that.

Where did he think those three rounds were coming down at and if he was in plain clothes he looked like any other drunk or nut with a gun.
