Tye was shot following a short foot pursuit with a suspect on September 11, 2003... he died 8 days later.

I know this doesn't quality as "recent" but I'd like to spread the word on the great things that his parents are doing in his memory:

OfficerPratt.com - Tye's parents make and sell Tye Bands to help support the local Boys and Girls Club in North Omaha (the area Tye patrolled).

J.A.S.O.N. taskforce - Tye's wife started a taskforce to keep judges accountable for their judicial actions. The guy that shot and killed Tye had 3 pages full of crimes he had committed. He should have been in jail.
