    Update on Officer Paz

Paz was shot numerous times in the shoulder, neck and lower body, and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix with life-threatening injuries, where he underwent multiple surgeries, Buckeye Police Chief Mark Mann said at a press conference Monday. He still is in critical condition but is stabilizing and he is expected to recover.

A press conference was just held in Buckeye. Sgt. Thompson, PPD's public relations officer states both officers were in uniform and each one had a patrol car, working security at a dance. They contacted a Chevy Tahoe with heavily tinted windows driving recklessly in the parking lot. Officer Tirado was contacting the driver and was executed when the front seat passenger exited the vehicle, moved around back of the vehicle and shot him in the head. Officer Paz returned/exchanged fire killing one and critically wounding another. The back seat passenger bailed out. It's unclear as to which suspect was killed - driver or passenger.

Both officers were United States Marine Corps veterans.

Semper Fi brothers. Rest in peace Tirado.

Another tragedy, made even worse when Phoenix makes the issues "why were Buckeye Officers working...instead of Phoenix Officers"...as if would have made a difference. How about making the focus the capture of ALL involved.

God's peace and rest to you Officer Tirado.
Prayers for recovery to Officer Paz.

Rest in Peace Officer Tirado, I did not know you, but if you worked with Chris you must have been a great man. Chris (Officer Paz), I'm praying for you and your family right now. I keep thinking back to our days in the academy, especially towards the end when we sat next to each other. Those were a great 19 weeks, and your smile and laugh still stand out in my mind. I'm praying for you to pull through this. Please everyone, send prayers for both of these Officers and their families.

Please, according to one of our illustrious student forum members, using the word "Mexican' is politically incorrect. You have to say Hispanic, even though Hispanic does not convey as much information.

To my knowledge most off duty jobs, they will be in uniform, but not have a radio to the department. In some big cities, like Dallas, if DPD officers are working in the city of Dallas, they will have radios. but that's it.
