  • Cornhusker greetings!

(even though our football team blows the big one right now)

Just wanted to introduce myself. Just getting into the Nebraska State Patrol after trying for 2 years. Right now I've gotten my conditional offer and am getting my polygraph and psych eval tomorrow. Aside from that, I'm an avid AR15 nut. Built 3 of them, working on a fourth.

Anyway, just thought I'd post an intro and say I'm glad to be here.

Welcome. Good luck tomorrow, and let us know how it went

I wouldn't say they blow. Callahan blows! But the program is on the up and up. It's just unfortunate that your stuck with that #$% hole as your coach. I will say this about your fans, they are a class act. It doesn't get any better than NU Football fans and this coming from a Sooner. We miss the battles!

Anyway, congrats on the offer and good luck today. Welcome from the Sooner State!

        Thanks for the welcome!

I got done with my polygraph at noon and although the actual test was flawless and showed no deception we ran into a little problem that may knock me out of the next training class.

In the pre-polygraph exam asking if I had ever engaged in various activities I divulged EVERYTHING. I didn't want anything to jeopardize my chance to get on this year. In describing everything I mentioned I had about 15 or so programs on my computer that I have obtained illegally and are in the process of purchasing legitimate licenses for. When asked the monetary value of the programs I estimated about $900 or so. It was wrong of me to pirate the software but I have stopped and are making it right.

Once hooked up and asked all the questions it was a breeze. I had nothing to hide and answered everything honestly. The only problem the polygraph tech had was with the software. So he's going to be calling the recruitment coordinator and see if I can continue on in the process. If not I am knocked out, again.

Kinda bummed out but hoping for the best. The sad thing is that if I had never told him about the software it would not have been a question during the actual lie detection phase of the test. And if I get knocked out for telling the honest truth then I guess I haven't lost anything.

Any feedback from current LEO's on this situation?

They might knock you out based on that? If LE agencies think recruiting is tough now, I can't wait to see what it's like in ten years...

Well I have taken stock of what I have and it is only 7 programs instead of the 15 I estimated. The value of them is $410 instead of my $900 estimate and in another 30 days I will be completely legit. I sent the information to my examiner and hopefully it will smooth things over.

I still can't believe I was that stupid as not to think about that before now.

EDIT: Where are you at in NE, equinox?

Hope everything turns out alright as you're finishing up the process. I'm planning on putting in my application with them in the fall. Do you know how many they had apply this time around?

I might shoot you a PM later with some questions if you wouldn't mind answering a few.
