    Hi All,

I have been lurking for sometime. I am currently in the process for several departments in California. I have read the forums over and over again, devouring every bit of information I can get.

A little about me: I am in my 30's and married with two daughters. I have three degrees (B.A. in History, Masters in Military History, and an M.B.A). I am a US Navy Veteran and served two tours to Iraq. I am also a God Fearing Texas boy who by some chance ended up falling in love with a California girl. I have always wanted to be in Law Enforcement but somehow kept getting sidetracked. I finally got on track and have been moving down this path for the last year.

Thank you to all of the LEO's that post here and provide insight into the career and help hopefuls and rookies alike. May God Bless You and Keep You Safe.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Just FYI I am in the middle of the process for one department I really want and have applications and tests pending for some that I will take to get my foot in the door. I took a Sheriffs written and PAT last weekend. Out of 150 test takers only 76 moved on to the PAT were they lost another 10 or so. Once they told me that even though we were testing now that our test takers may not get to go to the academy until next October (2015), I decided not to go through the background process.

I feel bad about doing that I but I feel like the more I test (written and physical) the better prepared I will be for the academy for the department I am currently in process with and that I really want to be employed with.

Thank you all for serving and answering questions here. God Bless.
