  • Hi all

    Hey everyone,

Just a few words, I figured that's the least I could do after I was accepted as a member!

As opposed to the majority of the people on this board, I actually live in Australia (South Australia) and will be going through SAPOL next year, completing my training in roughly 12 months from now.

The main reason I joined this forum is to read up on what you guys have experienced, how you feel about certain things, etc. I understand that the rules and laws are different in the US, but common sense doesn't usually change

Anyway, thanks for the acceptance and I'll see you guys around!

    Thanks,
    Andrew

      Hi Andrew....

Welcome. Feel free to jump into the conversations, I just joined and they are a great group of people.
If you just let people talk long enough......you will learn their intentions.

I've always wanted to see what life is like down-under. Maybe over time you can give us some clues. Welcome aboard and be sure to check out the international thread.

You're welcome, and I'm also new here on this forum, but your comment about common sense being the same all over is so true and caught my attention. I realize that laws differ from place to place but from 1980 to 2003 I lived with the concept that "a cop is a cop" now matter where he/she is from, and that was it. Next question was how does one determine a cop? I concluded that it was any sworn officer that worked on behalf of society as a good guy, and generally speaking carried a gun as part of his duties. The wrong attitude IMO is when cops determined brotherhood based on who could write traffic violations. I disagreed with that idea, and often put in my two cents which was: "who cares about the traffic stuff, he's a good guy with a gun that might save your life someday" I think it was childish to go by who could write who a ticket. Welcome to the job brother!
