  • Probation/Parole Officer here

Hey, i've been a member on here for a long time but really didn't post anything til a few weeks ago.

Been working for the KY DOC for 3 years, was an internal affairs/stg officer, intake officer, classification officer, etc. Have been working as a Probation/Parole Officer since December of 08.

Currently looking to get into Law Enforcement as a Police Officer, tired of this hug-a-thug thing we've got going on in KY. Anyhow, just thought I'd get on here and see what everyone else has going on. There are few and far between Police Officer Jobs in KY. guess i'm lucky to have a job with 20 year retirement anyways.

i don't mind helping people with drug issues out whatsoever, but when i go to a house suspecting to find something, do, and attempt to revoke them and get griped at a little bit about it from the others in the office, it's frustrating. if i'm finding baggies of crack they're selling they should go to prison.

Most of the violators for drugs are being continued on supervision instead of being revoked or sent to an ISF or SAFP facility for atleast 90-180 days, unless they pick up a new charge. The Board in Texas has their moments where they have plenty of revocations for things like fees, then other times they continue everyone. Guess it's due to the overcrowding in TDCJ.

....and Sully, I'm definitely looking for a new job

kentucky is the same way. in 2007 we were the only reported state to see an increase in prison population, which was 12%
