  • New from Jersey (relocating soon!)

Hey everyone! Good to have finally joined the forums. I have a BA in CJ and a minor in Psych and have been using these forums for the last 2 years to try and find jobs in NJ, and to look for advise while going through the process with the NYPD. Never been a member before though. After finishing everything with the NYPD however, the economy hit hard and from the looks of it, won't recover until after my list number has expired. The job market for police and troopers in NJ is flooded, as it has been for the last decade or so, which has finally gotten me to a point i've been thinking about for a good long time, which is heading to another state. I'm taking a few tests and hopefully will get picked up and be able to move to either VT or NH in the next 6-8 months . I'll be a pretty avid user on here, so keep an eye out for me. Anyone with questions regarding the NYPD or what I went through in their hiring process feel free to ask!

    Hey Jmb,

Welcome and best of luck. Hang in there. Things will pick up soon, somewhere!

Hey jmb. You might consider federal LE, at least until the state and local jobs recover. I think it is going to be a number of years for that to happen. Since you have a degree, you should consider the DEA as well as ICE and CBP. Good Luck

I recently took Border Patrol. Failed due to the language assessment though. I've been looking into ICE and CBP though. Thanks for the tip!

I'm a PA with the USBP. The next chance you get to take the test try to do so. Get the prep book from learning express and study it for a couple of weeks and you will do well. Don't feel bad about not passing the test. About 70% fail it. Good luck and hang in there.
