  • Topic retirement?

Is there ever a point at which a topic gets retired?

I see the site populated with a relatively high number (based on my experience on other forums) of topics with post counts in the hundreds, or even thousands. It seems to me no one new to the topic is going to go back and read through the historical record to find past nuggets of wisdom.

Something I've seen done effectively on other sites is to lock a topic once it gets to a certain number of posts (100, 500, 1000, whatever).

    Nope
It's just not the way it is done here.

First of all moderation is sparse here. The owners don't really care about the forums.....the money is in the rest of the webpage

    They don't care
My new word for the day is FOCUS, when someone irritates you tell them to FOCUS

Those old threads serve as an IQ test for new members. It's quite telling when they respond to a question asked 15 years ago...
