  • Things we have learned from Katrina

    Got a e-mail yesterday.

It outlines things we have learned about New Orleans from national TV since
    the storm hit.

    1. The hurricane only hit welfare family's property.

    2. New Orleans was devastated and no other city was affected by the
    hurricane.

    3. Mississippi is reported to have a tree blown down.

    4. The hurricane blew a limb off a tree in the yard of an Alabama resident.

    6. When you are hungry after a hurricane steal a big screen TV; it is OK.

    7. The hurricane did 23 billion dollars in improvements to New Orleans: now
the city is welfare, looters and gang free and they are in your city.

    8. Don't give thanks to the thousands that came to help rescue you, instead
complain because the government hasn't given you a $2000 debit card yet.

    9. Even though the government came and picked you up at your house; brought
you to a shelter; provided water, shelter and transportation and food for
you it is OK to complain that the red cross fed you hot dogs.

    10. Only family members that got separated in the hurricane rescue efforts
were the ones in the shelter at the Super Dome.

    11. Ignore warnings to evacuate and the government will come get you and
give you money for being stupid.

    12. Every one in New Orleans should have flood insurance it only cost $1.00
    a year.

    13. No one warned the people of New Orleans that this was a bad storm and
    they should evacuate.

    14. Oh, and it is all George Bush's fault.
In god we trust, the rest we run through NCIC

I got the same email, yep, that's some funny stuff! Here's something else you may find funny:

Thursday some officers from a small department just south of Houston near NASA evacuated to my department to get out of the way of Rita. We got to talking about the "officers" that abandonded the NOPD. Seems that a number of them tried to apply with another, larger department south of Houston. Someone in the admin gathered them into a room and told them that he'd rather not hire anyone than hire s**tty "officers" who abandon their department just when they need them the most. Needless to say none of them got an application. Score one for the good guys
