No big shock to me. When that bonehead mayor of New Orleans made that prediction of 10,000 deaths, I said it would likely be less than a 1,000. Nothing like supposedly intelligent people running around acting like teenage drama queens.

Don't get me wrong, though. I'm very glad to see it isn't 10K people, and sad to see 1,000 folks had to die in this age of information (the ones shot by the police after shooting at rescuers excluded, of course). Why make all of these dire predictions with no facts to base them on? Oh, wait, he needed to divert attention away from the fact that he helped create this fiasco.
