s&w 4506

Can anyone tell me what they think of the S&W 4506. Is it reliable. are the ajustable or novak sites better.

Hi, I'm a cop from Sydney Austrlia. Even though we use the totally excellent Glcok Model 22 at work (.40 S&W) I owned (for a looong time) a 4506 which I sued for target shooting.

They are 100% reliable (NEVER jammed - not ONCE - amazing but true - and I used it a LOT).Very very well made, and robust.

Problems : too heavy by todays standards, also only carry 8 in the mag.

If it is a carry gun you want I would go for the full size .45ACP Glock. Reality is that Glocks cannot be beat! However you could sure do worse than the venerable 4506!

In my department we carry the S&W 4508. Never had any problems with it, but I feel it is way to heavy to be lugging around and would give my left arm (need my right to shoot!) for either a Glock or Sig.
