I hate prescription painkillers. I've got a whole bottle of Darvocet, a few Percocets, and a couple of Vicodin in the medicine cabinet. Darvocets ok if I have a really bad headache, but the narcotics make me sick on my stomach. No chance I'll get addicted. The percocet and vicodin have been here for 4 or 5 years.
I passed a kidney stone in November, and they had to give me morphine just to take the edge off the pain. I puked my guts out when that crap started wearing off. They had to give me a shot to make me sleep so I would quit puking.

Tylenol #3 is great so is Xanax, but when i was on it, after a few weeks it lost it's punch lol. i weaned myself off it by cutting the pill into smaller and smaller pieces. luckily i'm not an addictive person

I had Percoset after my gallbladder surgery. it was good for about a week, then i got dizzy and my heart raced, so i weaned myself off that too lol.

Dave, i hope youre feeling better. back when i had my wisdom teeth pulled, i had roots around the bone and they had to slice the sides of my gums and my mom wouldnt fill the pain prescription! meany! take care and enjoy your stupor lol

I was put on that painkiller when I fell at an outlet mall. I me, I really wiped out. Broke my nose, knocked my front teeth out...I was a mess. The dr asked me when I came back in to be checked if I neded anymore. I told him, "I WANT it but I don't NEED it."
We also had a cop fired over Tylenol#3. He had hurt his back and got hooked. He started calling in bomb threats to different pharmacies until someone noticed he was always the first there, had everyone out, then he would take some of the pain killers. It must have been so horribly embarassing for him. He did lose his job.
That's why I take pain meds only when I just can't stand the pain anymore.
I had a friend here that got hooked on Xanax. I could not believe how much her dr would give her. She was very upset one night because her ex-husband and his new wife were in town. I went over to find her almost babling. I looked at this huge bottle of Xanax and tried to get her to tell me how much she took. I finally had to call 911 because she was in and out of conscienceness. She stayed over night at the hospital. I showed the dr the bottle of pills and he went "Whoa!" The dr was givig her 3 month supplies. Later, the dr lost his license for this.
It's a shame what drugs do to good people.

Funny! Just about had to put his feet up there! I've got a Fred Flintone jawline AND it was in there good, and the dentist is a little guy-about 140 pounds, so you're closer than you might think!

SIG220man- I too know a good cop (ex -Special Forces) who did the same thing, after an auto accident that led to back pain. He lost his job over it.

I'm not as woozy, but I've got no pain to speak of.

There used to be an officer at my department who got hooked on Vicodin, initially prescribed when he was involved in an on-duty traffic accident. He lost his job when it was discovered that he was forging prescriptions for the stuff; that's how addicted he had become.
