... I'm a cat person, so reading this article really ****ED ME OFF.

    quote:
To some, Weinhart was known as Tarzan - a man with a special feel for big cats. An employee said Weinhart could walk into a pen of leopards, where the cats would fight with each other to rub up against him.

But others had a different view of Weinhart. Natalie Paulson, the director of animal welfare at a sanctuary in Los Angeles County, told the Times she called the USDA to complain following a visit to Weinhart's Tiger Rescue operation last summer.

"It was horrendous," Paulson told the newspaper. "All the animals were malnourished

I couldn't believe the dogs infested with ticks, dogs and cats both skin and bones and dirty and malnourished and mistreated, on the Animal Planet's Animal Precinct show. It was DISGUSTING! How anyone can treat ANY animal like that is beyond me.

One dog had over 150 ticks on it! [Eek!] My dog had ONE and I freaked out not knowing what it was! I called the vet and everything. (turns out it was the first tick on her EVER and she ends up getting lyme disease! )

What people do to animals. I can't watch Animal Princt or Animal Cops because of the abused animals.
I have 2 yorkies, both from abusive situations. I'm glad I could give them a loving home.

I adopted a stray cat last Summer and we have fallen in love with that furball. He has the most tolerance of any kitty I know. He never hisses or bites my daughter when she starts playing with him too rough. Ohhh, we love our cat. His name is Joey.

What bothers me really bad is our neighborhood has a lot of stray cats running around and I feel so bad because they all come to my back patio meowing for us to let them in. Probably because they see how much we love our Joey. I don't really want that many cats around. One is enough for me -- I just can't help but feel guilty when I see their little faces outside.

I wish more people would spay and neuter their animals.

I'm a cat person, too. I have 3 cats, two of which I rescued. One of them has FIV which is the feline version of AIDS. He lives separate from the other kitties in my sunroom. They're my babies and I'd do anything on earth for them.

I can't bear to read articles, see pictures or watch anything on TV related to animal abuse. It breaks my heart.

We used to have a lot of people from the city dropping them off around here. Theyd get tore up, some would starve and the coyotes got fat on them. When they get to be TOO many, the lead injections people around here give them eases their problems considerably.

It really amazes me what people will do to animals. It's just...wrong.

Sadly, I find at least one victim of what I believe to be organized dog fights in parks around the city each month. People suck.

Not much of a surprise, if we can so nonchalantly do what we do to our fellow humans. I always get ****ed off about it, but then feel like a horrible hipocrite when I enjoy a nice cut of beef...

No one keeps cattle as pets. They are just there for eating.

Vermont, Watchman...but I swear I'd never seen one before!

I was patting my basset one night and felt a bump on her head. When I parted the hair, I noticed there was a blue/gray looking bubble that was hard. I thought ticks were creepy crawlers that were black, but didn't turn gray when filled with blood.

So yep! I guess I'd never known what one was! We've had very good luck with ticks to not actually see one until last year.

Must be too cold up yonder in Vermont.Lucky you.

A basset...I had one that talked...his name was General Longstreet. Very unique dog that use to think he was human. That dog would sit in front of the TV and watch it for hours. If it wasnt on, he would come and get you and yap at it till you turned it on.

Somebody stole him. If I ever find out who, I am going to shoot them.

Yes, but if we're getting into cruelty to animals, I would think that killing them is a rather painful experiance.

Nope, they kill 'em quickly; the cattle don't get a chance to feel a thing.
