  • Is the forum better or worse than it was a year ago?

This is for my personal edification, and don't be concerned about hurting my feelings (although I'd appreciate your avoiding serious profanity). I took over moderation of the forum about a year ago. Is it better or worse since then? Obviously, only people who have been members for at least a year should respond.

Sorry I had to choose worse.

A lot of the "old" regulars aren't around as much.

    I miss Sheriff/Hogboy.

I admit that I did stray away for about 6 months because it seems too, I don't know how else to explain it, but "churchy". Is that a word?

I'd say better. I had kind of written the site off before.

And, if "Sheriff" here, was the same guy as "Sheriff" on another police board (and he may not have been), believe me we are much better off without him.

I guess the biggest change I had to get used to was the Squad Room.

A year ago another user (a CA police disp) and I were permitted to post there as un-sworn personell and did so without a problem. IIRC we only posted on subjects directly relating to police dipatch and never gave any type of negative comments. If anything the posts were very positive.

Some time in the past year they changed that and now we can't post there. Those are the rules and I accept them because I want to stay a member here. It doesn't mean I have to like them.

Its not like it got really worse but I have noticed alot of the old members are gone. You have also made some really good changes to the forum, like the multi post option and you do listen to the members.

This forum used to have so much posting and it looked like it slowed down, maybe Tim you can have forum games. Im sure alot of people would like the ability to play other members in Texas hold'em and maybe chess, checkers etc.

I'd say better, as it seems like trolls are getting the boot more quickly.

Better. The asshats, trolls, and people that don't obey the rules (myself included on one occasion) are dealt with more quickly.

I think it is just fine -- and never had a problem with it before. The board administrators seem to be good at catching the "trolls" and keeping things rather orderly.

We're an odd bunch, no doubt; but I think each 'regular' person here would give an overall thumbs up to how things are done.

                              Props to Tim!!!!
