  • DQ'd from VBPD

Got the call from the BI and i was told i was DQ'd. At 1st I was ****ed but I realized how hard of a department vbpd is to get into. I dont feel so bad now, there are others I am going to try for as well.

Hate to hear that man... it's tough. I didn't get the job I was gunning for the past couple months either. One of my friends who is a Captain at that department told me this, "The best thing you can do is keep trying... if anything is worth having, it's worth working for!"

    Stay strong!

Plenty of other departments for you in the area! Good luck.

Hang in there Charlie. I recently tried to get on a department that is really tough to get on and didn't make it, either. All you can do is try again or look somewhere else. At least you're in an area with lots of departments. Good luck!

It doesn't happen over night. It took me 3 years and multiple attempt to get on with a department, but at least I saved the one I wanted most for last!
You have the right to remain silent, but apparently you lack the skill to exercise that right.

I dont feel bad anymore. I know of several people who I knew would make great cops, get DQ'd by vbpd. I really wanted VBPD but Im sure i can get on with another dept. No giving up for me.

Thanks to everyone for your responses

Don't feel too bad man... most people always try to get on with their 'hometown' department and very few actually do. Just think, after you get a few years under your belt you can try again and stand a lot better chance!

The best thing you can do is what you're doing now....keep a positive attitude, and take it as a learning experience. Good luck - you'll get on soon enough!

Sorry that you were DQ'd, but it ain't the end of the world. Heck, I got DQ'd by two different agencies before getting hired by a third (and then found out a fourth one wanted me as well).

If you still want to work for the VBPD, most agencies in Virginia allow for 'lateral entries' after just three years of service. Get on with Newport News, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk or Norfolk.....and then get yourself lined up to make the switch.

Think of the whole world as your oyster!

Check into the metro Richmond agencies. I know all of them are looking for people. (www.richmondgov.com/police, www.henricopolice.org, http://www.chesterfield.gov/PublicSa...e/pol_home.asp, www.co.hanover.va.us/sheriff/jobs.htm)

All of these are good agencies and the pay if "ok" for the area. You would only be about 1.75 hrs west of VB....
