Hate to hear that man... it's tough. I didn't get the job I was gunning for the past couple months either. One of my friends who is a Captain at that department told me this, "The best thing you can do is keep trying... if anything is worth having, it's worth working for!"
Stay strong!Back to the drawing board.

Hang in there Charlie. I recently tried to get on a department that is really tough to get on and didn't make it, either. All you can do is try again or look somewhere else. At least you're in an area with lots of departments. Good luck!Proud father of a US Marine and USAF SERE Specialist!

It doesn't happen over night. It took me 3 years and multiple attempt to get on with a department, but at least I saved the one I wanted most for last! You have the right to remain silent, but apparently you lack the skill to exercise that right.

Sorry that you were DQ'd, but it ain't the end of the world. Heck, I got DQ'd by two different agencies before getting hired by a third (and then found out a fourth one wanted me as well).
If you still want to work for the VBPD, most agencies in Virginia allow for 'lateral entries' after just three years of service. Get on with Newport News, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk or Norfolk.....and then get yourself lined up to make the switch.
Think of the whole world as your oyster!

Check into the metro Richmond agencies. I know all of them are looking for people. (www.richmondgov.com/police, www.henricopolice.org, http://www.chesterfield.gov/PublicSa...e/pol_home.asp, www.co.hanover.va.us/sheriff/jobs.htm)
All of these are good agencies and the pay if "ok" for the area. You would only be about 1.75 hrs west of VB....
