I dont know why incarceration has become such a taboo word these days. And then when someone goes to forfeit said assets under her ordinance they will probably be fired upon by the gang members. She's delusional if she thinks a violent offender is going to just willy nilly turn over assets that a civil court deemed should be turned over to the city.

Holding people accountable is racist…because the stats show WHO does the most crimes.

You know the saying "reality is stranger than fiction" well yeah welcome to Chicago where everyday reality here is stranger than fiction. I'll leave it at that. Lol.

Put down the guns, stop the violence," Lightfoot said. "But if you choose to continue, then we will hold you accountable."

That's right! Once they see what life is like with a poor credit rating they'll be scared straight.

Criminal: "Give me your stuff or I'll shoot you."

Politician: "Don't shoot us or we'll take your stuff."

Of course, when the politicians are talking to the taxpayers it's, "Give me your stuff or I'll shoot you!"

Yes, asset forfeiture can be a useful tool. But it comes with its own set of issues, relies on the ability to seize and safeguard the assets, and requires a decent amount of sophistication. Most important, it only works as a part of an overall aggressive attack on the underlying criminal activity, which seems to be lacking in Chicago.
‘the operative models are (a) the federal forfeiture system which has had both successes and failures, and the Southern Poverty suits against white power groups. I don’t suspect Lightfoot’s administration can handle either model. Mostly just a press release.
