The world is full of heroes. Thousands and thousands of them. No one salutes and respects WW2 vets (let alone CMH winners) for then me. But, in addition to his valor, he apparently posseses a lead foot as well.

We're talking apples and bench grinders here, folks. One has nothing to do with the other.

That said, we do't know the actual conversation. Rememebr that. All of us are (or were) judged by ther public, the media, fellow oficers, supervisors, etc., enough, without we here turning on our own.

IFthe trooper uttered this statement, I agree as given it was rude and cold and could have been delivered better.

But as to whether or not to cite the gentleman and perhaps lengthen his life by reminding him to watch his speed, that is a choice to be made exclusively by the trooper himself - not for us to second guess.

Having been in the position of citing people others would have been either too embarassed, too intimidated or too pressured not to, I can understand both sides of this case.

I say thank God for people like this CMH winner and, thank God for cops of all kinds, who understand th danger and life-saving that occurs in speed and all other traffic violation enforcement. Oooo-RAH!

    Carry on...

Memorial day does have a meaning. The trooper at least could have said Yes I know what it means and I thank you for your service but, you were speeding sir.
Yes, Those are my exact sentiments

RIGHT ON WILLOW Exactly...I don't know why some people expect extra preferential treatment in times like these. Hey, stand up and take it llike a man...or better a woman!

On another board, Mr. Currey's speed was given as 6 over the limit. I have net yet seen any confirmation of this event posted in any forum.

I really would like to sit down and have a nice talk with that LEO so that I could put all this to rest. It wouldn't take me but 5 to size things up from a real perspective. After all, He started all this by doing his job ...which is to cite speeders and sometimes that mean VIP, Hollywood, NASCAR drivers and the such. Hey, it's suppose to save lives. Are we forgetting something here?

Can't find a thing on this story.

And, if I may say so, while the intent of this "story" may be to defame the Trooper, and VSP.....it really defames Sgt Currey.

Knowing all he has done, I can't imagine he would want this story bandied about, especially if it's not true.

Whoever is using his good name should be ashamed.

I'm with Matto on this one. I think a cop with any horse sense would agree.

Man trooper, you are my hero. I havent had this much fun since that time I got thrown in jail in Mexico with my with the one legged prostitute and the 7 dwarfs.

Disclaimer: That was back in my drinking days, so it might not have been jail, but there was definately 7 short people and a gal with one leg.

You have not been to an academy, therefore you have absolutely no knowledge of what you are insulting.
Because Sir, You are a reflection to all of us out here called the citizenry and if you are ever to earn our respect, you first have to respect yourself. There is something that is taught in the class of common sense and propler pr relations with the public in order to ALWAYS AVOID CONFRONTATION if at all possible. Graduating from Officers School does not give you a license to ignore all authority except your own and lastly try to be a dang good Cop and do your sworn duty...respectively!
