COLUMBUS, Ohio - Two Columbus police officers were in serious condition on Tuesday morning after the car they were riding in was struck head-on.
The crash occurred at about midnight along St. Clair Avenue on the city's Near East side, 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.

The officers were working special duty when the crash occurred.
Police said that they had finished assisting another officer at a different scene and were driving north along St. Clair Avenue when a car that was traveling in the other direction came right at them.
When the car that was driving south crossed the center of the road, it struck the officers' cruiser head-on.
"They are speaking and are alert," said Columbus police Lt. Paul Ohl. "There are some broken bones involved with both officers. We believe they are expected to recover fully."
Both officers were transported to hospitals. Their names were not immediately released.
Police said the driver of the other vehicle ran away from the scene of the crash. The two injured officers grabbed him and held him to the ground until other officers arrived and made the arrest, Ramos reported.
"The other driver, we suspect, was intoxicated," Ohl said.
