  • Detroit PD “executive review”

Can anyone on here shed some light on the DPD hiring process? Last time I checked, my application/background is under “executive review.” Does this usually mean I will be DQ’d or the fact they have not DQ’d me yet mean I am still very well in the hunt?

I had my background interview in November so about 2 1/2 months since last scheduled contact. I reached out to a recruiter in January and was told my application was under executive review.

It is going to be real hard for anyone who has not been involved in that particular agencies hiring practice to be able to tell you what is going on ........................have you tried the Michigan are of the sub forums? You might get a better answer

Since some people need to be told by notes in crayon .......Don't PM me with without prior permission. If you can't discuss the situation in the open forum ----it must not be that important

Dude.... it's the city of Detroit. Not exactly a well oiled machine we're talking.

It's good preparation for the dysfunction you'll be immersed in someday. Bombed out neighborhoods with roaming packs of rotts and pitbulls on one side of the street and wild haired addicts screaming at the clouds on the other. Sections so abandoned that coyotes and ring-neck pheasants have returned as well as native grasses as high as the Kansas prairie. Bloody needles in parks by the swing sets and be careful not to step in any of the human excrement by the slides. Note all the officers' personal vehicles at the precincts have the Club on steering wheels... you know it's a rough town when even the employee cars at the cop shops are getting stolen. Now go inside... see that pile of old computer monitors in the hallway? It's been there since 2013. Now go in the men's room- where three urinals once stood are now three pipes sticking out of the wall, covered in masking tape. I could go on and on and on.

You can expect bureaucratic snafus as regular as the seasons. For example, I always had my city taxes taken automatically out of every check to avoid a big tax bill every April. Then when I filed the paperwork, I typically got a refund of a couple hundred bucks. Half the time, six months later, I got a check. The other half I got a letter stating I haven't paid my taxes (even though I did) and this is my tax bill. So then I have to call the Treasurer's office or visit the CAY Building and hope to find someone willing to sort out the mess (easier said than done). It was a huge pain to deal with, every other year.

Good luck with all this. Chief Craig is a busy guy with lots on his plate. Be patient.
